Pat with the awards host Ms Sile Seogie, Pat was nominated for the award by Pulse and his nomination was endorsed by the client the Guinees Storehouse, this is what Mr Joe Higgins GM said.

I would like to support the nomination of Pat Douglas for Event Security Officer of the Year. Pat has been our Head Security guard for the last 10 years. In 2011 the Guinness Storehouse hosted over 58,000 guests for events with 7,800 in the Christmas period alone.  So far this year in 2012 we have hosted over 62,000 guests for events.

Pat manages this, his own team and the customer’s expectation always with a professionalism and
friendliness that is peerless. Over the years events that The Guinness Storehouse have hosted include – Facebook, Google, Intel, Pfizer, visits from Bill Clinton, Tina Turner, Sony launch of the Script’s new Album, the US Embassy presidential Celebrations, the Patrick Kielty and Craig Doyle TV shows and of course the Queen’s recent visit last May.  Most recently we have hosted the very large International Bar Association and the Notre Dame V Navy games that visited Dublin with 8,000 guests across 10 events in 2 weeks, Pat has been an integral part of the success of all of these events.

Pat is our point of contact for booking the security team, liaising and advising clients on specific requests and on the night managing the team of anything up to 20 security personnel in their positions. The logistics of moving guests around the building while bearing in mind all Health & Safety and Fire safety procedures while ensuring their enjoyable experience is not compromised and is
something Pat always takes a pro active and positive approach towards. His main focus is the customer – he is always friendly, accommodating, welcoming, patient and professional and nothing is ever a problem.  With the ever changing, last minute requests that are part and parcel of the
hospitality industry, Pat is always accommodating and flexible, whether it is date changes / times changes or number changes – he can always be relied upon.    I cannot recommend Pat highly enough for this award and I wish him every success with his nomination, I cannot think of a more deserving nominee.
